What if a party guest has food allergies?

It is your responsibility to check with party guests for any food allergies and inform us of any concerns.  We will gladly work with you to accommodate the guests, but if we are unable to accommodate then we suggest you or the parent provide an alternate refreshments for the child.

Should the guests wear something special to the party?

Thumbs Up Party Planning provides costumes for our party guests.  The guests do not get undressed so we ask that girls wear a leotard or bathing suit from home to wear under the party costumes.  We ask that boys wear light clothing such as a plain T-shirt and plain shorts or pants so the costumes can be worn over their clothes.

What payments are accepted?

We are happy to announce that we have made making payment easier for you!  You may now make your deposits and payments through PayPal.  And as always, cash, check or money orders made out to Thumbs Up Party Planning are also accepted as methods of payments.

What if there is severe weather or an illness?

In case of severe weather or illness, Thumbs Up Party Planning reserves the right to reschedule your party.  If the guest of honor becomes ill we will gladly work with you to reschedule your party based on availability.  An additional deposit fee is not necessary to reschedule due to severe weather or illness.  Please realize that additional charges for perishable items and resending invitations may be necessary.

What if I have to reschedule or cancel my party date?

If the party needs to be rescheduled, we will work with you in finding another date within 90 days that is satisfactory with no additional deposit fee.  You will be responsible to pay for any items bought for the party that are perishable and for resending invitations.  If you decide to cancel the party for any reason, your deposit is non-refundable and treated as a cancellation fee.

Are parents/adults and younger siblings allowed to stay during the party?

This is ultimately up to the person given the party.  We ask that if parents would like to stay and enjoy that they keep the noise level low in order for the guests to hear the On-site Hostess.  Thumbs Up Party Planning is not able to watch small children during the party.

Can I invite more than 8 guests?

Yes, of course!  Parties with more than 14 guests may require and third Party Hostess to keep the quality of the party.  There is a $15.00 charge per additional guest over 8 guests and the guest count must be confirmed at least 5 days before party date.   We may not be able to accommodate any last minute guests added to the party.

What is the minimum number of guests allowed?

Parties are designed for at least 8 guests (including the guest of honor) and up to 15 guests.  If less than 8 guests (including the guest of honor) attend the party, you will still be charged for the minimum of 8 children.  Thumbs Up Party Planning does not give reimbursements for guests that do not show up to the party.

When do I need to have the final head count?

Confirm guest count at least 5 days before party date.   This number will be used in planning the costumes, games, crafts, goodie bags, cake and billing.  Please realize that any siblings that will be attending the party need to be included in the final head count.

What about guests that are late?

Please make sure your guests realize how important to arrive promptly.  We have a lot of fun packed into the party time and wouldn’t want anyone to miss anything.  We are unable to wait for guests that arrive late.  Any late arriving guest may join the party at whatever point it have progressed to upon their arrival.

When will the party hostess arrive and what exactly will she do?

The party hostess arrives approximately 1 hour before the party time to set up and prepare.  She will then facilitate the entire party including craft, costumes, games, cake serving and any other activity incorporated into the party.  The person giving the party is more than welcome to participate in any area of facilitating the party.  We are here to do as much or as little as you would like.  We do not want to interfere, but we do want you all to enjoy the day as much as possible!  At the end of the party, she will then clean up party items and equipment.

Please keep in mind that you may want to include time for opening gifts at the end of the party.  Be sure to include this in when determining the party time for the invitations.

How do I prepare for the big party?

Please have plenty of floor space available for games and plenty room for guests to change into their party costumes.  A cleared dining table for serving cake and/or making crafts is also necessary.

Please remain at the party at all times.

Can we have the party outside?

Yes, you may have the party outside but please have an inside location for back up.  The guests are not allowed on grassy, dirty areas while wearing our costumes.  Thumbs Up Party Planning reserves the right to determine if the outdoor area is suitable for our equipment.  Any damage caused to the costumes is the responsibility of the client.

Where is the party held?

You choose the location and Thumbs Up Party Planning comes to you.   The party can be held in your home or other location such as a hall, park, or club house.  Travel fees apply outside a 40 mile radius.

Please allow parking space near an entrance as we will have many items to bring in to your party.

How can I schedule a party?

On-Site Hostess package:  Contact Thumbs Up Party Planning by calling 410.465.3946 or email Laura@ThumbsUpParty.com  to check availability of your party date & time. Once availability is confirmed, a $100 non-refundable deposit and signed contract are required to reserve your date and time.

Party-In-A-Box package:  Once availability is confirmed, a $50 non-refundable deposit, $125 security deposit and signed contract are required to reserve your date and time.  The security deposit will be returned once all party items have been returned.

It is best to reserve at least 6 weeks in advance in order to allow ample time to have custom work completed and for that extra special touch added to your party.

Deposits can be made through PayPal, check, money order, or cash.

 

Thumbs Up Party Planning assumes no responsibility or liability for accidents or damages caused during your party.  Thumbs Up Party Planningis not responsible for allergic reactions or any other medical reaction stemming from the wearing of any costumes or accessories, consuming any food or beverages, or any activity taken place before, during, or after the party.  You, as the Client, assume all liability and responsibility for the above described allergic or medical reactions.  In the event of damage or loss of Thumbs Up Party Planning’s  inventory and or damage or loss at the party location, the financial responsibility lies entirely with the Client.
